MORONGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO APPOINT NEW SUPERINTENDENT TONIGHT

The Morongo Unified School District Board of Directors will meet at Friendly Hill Elementary School tonight. The meeting starts at 5:45 at which time the board will formally appoint Dr. Cecilia English as the new superintendent, effective July 1. The board will go into closed session at 6:30 to discuss student expulsions, employee dismissals, discipline, and release, continue its negotiations over teacher contracts, and a performance evaluation of the superintendent. The board will reconvene into open session at 7 at which time it will recognize retirees and long-time employees. Following reports and comments and routine matters on the consent agenda, the board will renew contracts for the assistant superintendents, grant permission to the organization Save the Children to solicit funds to support the after-school and educational safety program, waive fitness requirements for 50 students, and approve the 2013-14 school calendar, among other items.
