MORONGO BASIN SHERIFF’S CAPTAIN NAMED DESERT HOT SPRINGS CHIEF

The captain of the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station will be leaving to become chief of police of the Desert Hot Springs police department. Dale Mondary, who has been with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for 24 years, said his last day with the Sheriff’s Department will be June 12. He will spend a week transitioning with Interim Chief of Police Jeff Kirkpatrick before taking over in Desert Hot Springs on June 22. Mondary told Z107.7 News that leaving the Sheriff’s Department was a “very, very difficult decision to make,” as he has spent almost 19 of his 24 years with the agency in the Morongo Basin. He added that he hopes to take what he’s learned from the Sheriff’s Department and make a positive impact in Desert Hot Springs. Mondary was named captain of the Morongo Basin station in April of last year.
