MORE NEW LAWS THAT WILL AFFECT YOU IN 2016

Some of the 807 laws passed in 2015 will affect everyday issues faced by Californians. The state has established incentives for owners of apartment buildings housing low-income residents to install solar panels. Marijuana growers whose wastewater and chemical discharges harm the environment will face steep fines.
 
Law enforcement and family members can seek a restraining order that will prevent someone deemed dangerous from possessing a firearm for 21 days. Carrying a concealed weapon on college campuses will be banned.
 
Students are required to take a class on sex education, to include teaching about different sexual orientations, unless their parents object. High school health courses must include information about preventing sexual assault. The California Interscholastic Federation must develop guidelines to classify competition cheerleading as an official scholastic sport.
