MORE NEW LAWS FOR 2015

School districts that gather information about students from social media can only collect information that is directly related to school or student safety. The information must be destroyed when the student turns 18 or leaves the school district.
The Department of Motor Vehicles must provide a free identification card to anyone who can verify that he or she is homeless.
Community colleges can start offering bachelor’s degrees in programs that are not duplicated by state universities.
The fourth Friday in September will now be a state holiday, Native American Day.
And finally, a new law permits the public to review initiatives for 30 days at the beginning of the process, and allows the initiative’s proponents to change—at their discretion—the initiative. The time period for gathering signatures has also increased to 180 days, instead of the current 150.
