MEASURE X FAILS IN YUCCA VALLEY

Yucca Valley residents defeated yesterday an initiative to allow medical marijuana dispensaries in the town. With about one-third of the town’s 9,800 registered voters casting ballots, the final unofficial results are 1,854 against Measure X, with only 1,414 voters for the proposed ordinance. Only 730 of the more than 3,200 votes were cast at the polls Tuesday; the rest were mail-in ballots. If Measure X had passed yesterday, the proposed ordinance would have allowed one dispensary per 10,000 residents.
