MARINE COMMANDANT TAPPED AS JOINT CHIEFS CHAIRMAN

President Obama will announce today that he will nominate Marine Corps Commandant General Joseph Dunford as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to Pentagon sources. Obama will also announce that he will nominate Air Force General Paul Selva, currently commander of U.S. Transportation Command, to serve as the next vice-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, sources said. Dunford, 59, was tapped for commandant of the Marine Corps following a year and a half serving as the commander of International Security Assistance Force, leading all coalition troops in Afghanistan.
