MAJOR HIGHWAY PROJECT COMING TO STATE ROUTE 247

Motorists who drive on State Route 247, also known as Old Woman Springs Road, should prepare to be inconvenienced for the next seven months or so. CalTrans is planning an $8 million dollar project on eight miles of the highway, from El Cortez Road to Handley Road that will start around the beginning of October. A CalTrans spokesman said traffic control and flaggers will be out to direct traffic as necessary as workers put in guard rails, temporary delineators, rumble strips, construct and widen shoulders to eight feet, and grind out and replace the pavement. The project is estimated to take 140 working days, or until about the end of April or early May.
