LOCAL ROLLER DERBY TEAM LAUNCHES FUND-RAISER FOR ROLLER RINK

The Mojave Rattle Skaters roller derby team invites you to the “Honey Badger’s Ball” Saturday, August 31, at 8 p.m. at the Joshua Tree RV Lake Campground, 2601 Sunfair Road in Joshua Tree. The event is a benefit to raise money for an outdoor public roller rink at the Brehm Family Recreation Center in Yucca Valley. The Honey Badger Ball will feature live music from the Paul Chesne Band, food and drinks. Admission is $10 at the gate. As evidenced by the theme, this is not a formal event. Come as you are. Mojave Rattle Skaters is a flat-track women’s roller derby team in the Morongo Basin. The team was formed in 2012 and actively trains and competes with other regional roller derby teams. They have been actively raising money to fund the installation of a smooth concrete track that would meet Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s standards and be suitable for the whole community to use.
