LANDERS RESIDENTS TO PROTEST SOLAR PLANT AT SUPERVISORS MEETING

Landers residents say they plan to attend the January 6 meeting of the County Board of Supervisors to protest the Planning Commission’s approval of a 35-acre solar power project in their community. The Landers Association objects to the project of sPower of Salt Lake City planned for between Bowman Trail and Sunny Vista Road. In a press release, Michael Krantz, vice president of the Landers Association, said, “The solar facility would be blight on our rural desert community, located on pristine land, highly visible from Reche Road, the major highway running through Landers. Migratory birds and desert tortoises are also likely to be affected.” The Planning Commission approved the application by sPower on December 4.
