JOSHUA TREE WOMAN KILLED IN YUCCA VALLEY CRASH LAST NIGHT

A Joshua Tree woman was killed in a roll-over crash Tuesday night. According to the Sheriff’s department, Kimberly Elliott, 28, was driving her 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant eastbound on Highway 62. As she approached Ronald Drive in Yucca Valley about 9:15 p.m., she lost control of her car. The car hit the dirt embankment on the south side of the highway and rolled over, landing on the driver’s side. Elliott was partially thrown from the vehicle. Bystanders attempted to move the car off Elliott, but fire personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, Christopher Martin, 29, was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with minor injuries and released. The highway was closed to both east and westbound traffic until about 6 a.m. this morning and traffic was diverted onto residential streets. The Sheriff’s Department states that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Witnesses to the crash should call Deputy Grantham at 760-240-7400.
