JOSHUA BASIN WATER DISTRICT ISSUES CONDITIONAL WILL-SERVE LETTER TO SUNFAIR SOLAR PROJECT

In July, the Joshua Basin Water District denied a will-serve request from Next Era Energy for a planned solar plant at the old Joshua Tree Airport, telling the developer to come back once the county approved their request to combine 10 parcels into just one. Well, last night they came back; assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz was there …
At last night’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the board had little choice but to grant a will-serve letter to Next Era Energy. That action, because the Florida-based company had completed the District requirement that their 10 parcels be combined into one. And still, what the board approved was a conditional will-serve letter for the firm’s planned 115-acre site. Unless or until California’s drought emergency water restrictions are lifted, the letter is of little use to the developer.
