INTERIM TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY MANAGER LEAVING

Following any election, there is a cascade of changes as government officials move on or move out. Reporter Dan Stork says that one local musical chairs exercise involves state, county, and city government…
Chad Mayes’ victory in the 42nd Assembly District race leaves County Supervisor Janice Rutherford without a Chief of Staff, but not for long. Twentynine Palms Interim City Manager Andy Takata has given the City two-weeks’ notice, and will be assuming the county post immediately thereafter. In a phone call with Z107.7 news, Takata had nothing but good words to say about his time back in the Morongo Basin, and about the people he worked with and for in Twentynine Palms. He said, “The Morongo Basin has felt like home. …Thanks for accepting me back.” Mayor Dan Mintz told us that he learned about Takata’s resignation at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday. He said that the city council will consider what to do about the suddenly vacant position at its November 12 meeting.
