HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

The 29 Palms High School boy’s Wildcat basketball team continued De Anza league play Wednesday night in Big Bear. Coach Michael Schneider said with two members stricken with flu-like symptoms, the game was a defensive battle in the first half, with the wildcats holding a 21-16 lead at intermission.  With 15 seconds left in the game, it all seemed to be over until senior guard, Elijah Grubbs, hit a game-tying 3-pointer to send the game into overtime. The wildcats finished the game strong dominating the extra period and pulling out an amazing 57-51 victory. The wildcats leading scorers were Kyle Hope with 14 points and Elijah Grubbs added 11. Their De Anza league record is now to 3 and 2.

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team scored a 57-32 win over Desert Mirage last night in Thermal. Coach Jess Geeson said junior Ashley Priest led the team with 26 points, was followed by junior Yvonne Tran with nine points and senior Hannah Hughes with eight points. The victory moves the Lady Trojans record to 3-2 in league play and 12-7 overall.

Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer lost 3-1 against Desert Mirage yesterday. Coach Tee Vallo said Desert Mirage went up 2-0 but the Trojan boys kept up pressure in the second half and scored a goal from a great assist from sophomore defender Enrique Tamayo who sent a ball to senior forward Logan Vallo who put the ball in the back of the net with a great header

The YuccaValleyHigh School girls’ soccer team traveled to Thermal to play against DesertMirageHigh   School. The Lady Trojans won with a score of 5-1. Coach Scott Phillips said senior Teresa Nava had two goals, junior Karson Scaccinoce had two goals, junior Jennifer Luersen with one goal and one assist, and freshman Alexia Missett one assist.

 

Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team will travel away to Big Bear to play the Bears. Match time is at 3 p.m.

 

The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will both play the Shadow Hills Knights, but the girls will travel to Indio while the boys will play them at home. Match time for both teams is at 5 p.m.
