HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

Last night, the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ varsity basketball team won their game with Desert Hot Springs to raise their record in league to 2 and 0 by the score of 68 to 36. Leading scorers were Lindsey Scamman with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Tatiyanna Mackall with 13 points, and Adriann Miller with 11 points.
  
Yucca Valley High School boys’ varsity basketball continued their winning ways riding a 4-game win streak to start league play 2-0, beating Desert Mirage Monday night, 79-56, led by seniors Thomas Geiger with 25 points, Jamal Robinson 14, and our freshman Eli Lynch, who dropped 22 points.
 
Yucca Valley junior varsity boys’ basketball got a victory in dramatic fashion in a 2-point thriller.
 
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team hosted their first home game of the season against West Shores High School and cruised to an 8-0 victory. Coach Scott Phillips said eight different players scored for the Lady Trojans. Senior Nikole Cody recorded the shutout.

Monday night, the Twentynine Palms boys’ Wildcat soccer team hosted the Golden Eagles of Desert Hot Springs. Coach Nathan Niles said they almost took the lead on several great shots. The Eagles held and then put in five goals late in the second half to seal their 5-1 victory.
 
After a strong start, the junior varsity team allowed five goals in the first half.  The second half proved to be even more difficult for the junior ’Cats with the final score ending at 11-0.  
 
The Yucca Valley High School Trojan varsity wrestling team defeated Desert Mirage High School, 72-9, Tuesday night in Trojan Gym in Yucca Valley. Coach Larry Giron said every win by the Trojans was by pins in the first period, with the fastest pin by Aaron Alexander in about 40 seconds.
 
Next the Trojans host the Trojan War wrestling tournament Saturday in Yucca Valley High School Gym at 10 a.m.
 
Coming up in high school sports today, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ varsity basketball will travel to Indio to face Shadow Hills High School and the girls’ varsity basketball will host Shadow Hills at home. Both games begin at 6 p.m. 
 
Tomorrow in high school sports, the Joshua Springs High School girls’ basketball will travel to Rancho Mirage and face Palm Valley High School. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
