HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

Wednesday’s home game for the Yucca Valley High School baseball team against cross-town rivals Twentynine Palms turned up roses for the Trojans. Coach Brian Schoenborn said the Yucca Valley Trojans scored first with a stolen base by junior Colden McGarvie after an RBI single by freshman Desmond Delgado. The third inning saw solo home runs by senior Isaiah Kinder and sophomore Tim Parker, who also pitched a complete game for the Trojans with eight strikeouts. The Trojans added two runs in the fifth inning with an RBI double by senior Parker Jones and an RBI hit by junior Jared Hudson. The Trojans added four more runs in the sixth inning, with doubles by McGarvie and Jones, and a triple by senior Jeremy Schoenborn for two RBIs. The final score was 9-1.

The Trojan Junior Varsity won a close one, 12-11, in walk-off fashion.

The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ varsity tennis team traveled to Yucca Valley for a league match Monday. The Trojans defeated the Wildcats 10-to-8 in a hard-fought battle. Coach William Shay said the Wildcats were led in doubles action by Marcus Simon and Vincent Thomas sweeping all three sets. In singles’ action, the Wildcats were led by Jarod Burks and John Lanza, winning two of their three sets. The Wildcats held on to their second place ranking in the DeAnza League while Yucca Valley finished in third.

In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School tennis team will compete in the De Anza League individual finals.

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan baseball and softball teams will travel away tomorrow to Rancho Mirage. Both games start at 3:30.
Also tomorrow, the Wildcat baseball and softball teams will host the Big Bear Bears at home tomorrow; both games begin at 3:30 p.m.
