HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ basketball team took to the court last night against the De Anza league first-place team, Rancho Mirage High School. Coach Michael Schneider said they clawed and fought after a bad first half and finished with a nail-biter of a victory, 62-59. Kyle Hope and Abraham Bell had 14 points apiece, while D’Shaun Barrett added 11. This brings their overall record to 10-6, with a share of first place in the De Anza league at 8-2.

The Yucca Valley Lady Trojans basketball squad suffered a disappointing loss last night, losing 50-47 to Desert Hot Springs in Trojan Gym. Coach Jess Geeson said sophomore Taylor Spitz led the scoring with 13 points, senior Ashley Priest added 11 points, while junior September Shaw-Fryer came off the bench to score 10 points. With the loss the team falls to 8-2 in De Anza League play and 18-6 overall.

The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team hosted Desert Hot Springs in De Anza League play. The Lady Trojans played well but fell short, losing by a score of 2-1. Freshman Jackie Bolha scored the goal with sophomore Hayli Mayhood providing the assist.

In high school sports today, the Joshua Springs boys basketball team will travel away to Rancho Mirage to play Palm Valley School, starting at 6:30 p.m.

In high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ wrestling team will be in Day 2 of the CIF Championship play-offs. The boys’ wrestling team will participate in the DIF Duals Division.

The Twentynine Palms High School girls’ basketball team will participate in the Play 4 Kay showcase.
