HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

After finding themselves down by a score of 11-5 in the first quarter against Yucca Valley, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats boys’ basketball team went on a 22-to-6 run, to take a ten point lead at halftime and secure a 49-to-38 point win. This brings Twentynine Palms’ overall record to six and six with a De Anza league record of four wins and two losses. Coach Michael Schneider said Jimmy Shragge and D’Shaun Barrett each contributed 11 points. Abraham Bell and Demetrius Holmes chipped in with eight apiece. No report was received from either of the Coaches on the girls’ basketball game.

The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat boys’ soccer team played at home last night against the rival Yucca Valley Trojans. Coach Nathan Niles said despite an injury-depleted roster, the boys gave their best effort and came up short by a score of 6-0.

The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team traveled to Twentynine Palms to take on the Lady Wildcats in De Anza League play. The Lady Trojans dominated the game and won by a score of 5-1. Soccer Coach Scott Phillips said outstanding players were sophomore Alexia Missett, two goals, three assists; freshman Jackie Bolha, two goals; freshman Liana Jimenez, one goal; senior Karson Scaccianoce, one assist; senior Jennifer Luersen, one assist.

Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team will travel away to play the Big Bear Bears. The match starts at 3 p.m.
