On Wednesday night, Joshua Springs Lightning boys basketball won their CIF Division 6 playoff opener, defeating the Crossroads Christian Cougars 80-39. The 4th-seed Lightning now stand at 19-3 on the season, moving to the second round of CIF playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. Helping them get there were seniors Jordan Lovejoy and Jeff Bachman, who led the team with 16 points each. All five starters were in double figures for Joshua Springs, whose balanced attack has been the key to success all season. With the win, the Lightning will travel Friday night to take on the 13th-seed St. Monica Academy Crusaders, who sport a 15-9 record and advanced by defeating West Shores of Salton City.
