HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS RESULTS

Yesterday the Twentynine Palms High School varsity swim team kicked off their season at home by winning their meet against Banning 93 to 67 for the boys, and 140 to 23 for the girls. Despite it being the first meet of the season, the girls achieved four CIF consideration times. Those were Lexi Wade, Lindsey Scamman, Nokomis Cabrera, and Hanna Beard in the 200-yard medley relay, Hanna Beard in the 50-yard freestyle, Darrian Rieg, Nokomis Cabrera, Alexys Sanders, and Hanna Beard in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and Nokomis Cabrera in the 100-yard breaststroke. All swimmers did great and the team will travel away to Apple Valley next week on March 18.

The Twentynine Palms Wildcat golf team hosted Apple Valley High School yesterday in a non-league match and were defeated 257-230. The Wildcats are now 1-1 in non-league play. Coach Grant Whipple said the stand out for the Wildcats was Brandon Steffins, who shot a sizzling 4 under 32. The Wildcats open league play next week against Shadow Hills.

The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat baseball team lost 12-3 to Xavier prep Tuesday. Coach TJ Stanford said hitting well was Derek Sutherland, going 2-4, with an RBI, and Kyle Hope going 1-3 with an RBI.
