HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS OFFERED COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPS

This year, the University of California application and the Common Application computer window will open early, on August 1, for students to begin to apply to colleges. Reporter Dan Stork says that Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High Schools will hold workshops to help students get a jump on the process before their senior year starts August 24…
Counselor Kathleen DeRouen will help seniors with the college admission and financial aid process at Yucca Valley High School and Twentynine Palms High School during August. She will be at YVHS every Monday and Wednesday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., from August 3 to August 19, and at TPHS Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 4 to August 20, also between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Kathy DeRouen will advise on how to:
Complete college admission application(s);
Write personal statement(s);
Review for SAT and ACT tests;
Apply for Educational Opportunity Programs and research and apply for various scholarships.
Seniors are advised to attend as many sessions as they are able so they can get the best “jump start” on the college admission process.
Please contact the front office at Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High Schools for more information on specific rooms where the workshops will be held or for any further help with planning your post-high school education.
