We have sketchy details on a traffic collision in Yucca Valley Friday morning. One man is in custody following the rear-end crash at Yucca Mesa and Highway 62. Shortly before 9:30 a.m., westbound traffic was stopping for a red light at the intersection when a still-unidentified man driving a white Volvo rear-ended a Mazda, and then spun off and hit a white van in the next land. The woman driving the Mazda said the Volvo’s driver asked to use her phone, but when she said she was using it, he ran off westbound, in the desert. CHP officers caught the man after a short pursuit and took him in to custody. A witness said the white van then drove off, and a woman and two children in the Volvo were taken to a hospital. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
