FORMER COUNTY FIELD REP TAKES PLEA BARGAIN TO CONTRABAND CHARGE

UPDATE: On October 20, 2017, a judge found that no crime was committed by Mike Lipsitz and has expunged this from his record.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office yesterday dropped one charge and lowered another in the case against Mike Lipsitz. The former field rep for County Board of Supervisors Chairman James Ramos pleaded guilty to bringing contraband—a tube of Crazy Glue—to an inmate visit at the Glen Helen Fire Camp last February. The original charge of bringing illegal narcotics to the jail was dropped after nine months of investigation failed to connect Lipsitz with any drugs found there. At the time of his arrest, Lipsitz made no attempt to conceal the Crazy Glue and admitted to authorities that he’d brought it. “I demonstrated some poor judgment,” he said, “but it had nothing to do with illegal drugs.” Lipsitz was sentenced to 120 days in County Jail, eligible for weekender/work release and up to 36 months of felony probation. Mike Lipsitz is an assignment reporter for Z107.7 news.
