Five people were arrested by the California Highway Patrol for driving under the influence during its maximum enforcement period over the Labor Day weekend. CHP Officer Joan Griffin said no arrests for DUI were made during its DUI checkpoint Friday, which was at Vale Drive and Highway 62 in Morongo Valley. Griffin said more important than no DUI arrests at the checkpoint was the fact that there were no fatalities in the Morongo Basin over the Labor Day weekend.
