EXTREME HEAT ADVISORY IN PLACE UNTIL MONDAY

temperaturesAn excessive heat warning remains in effect until Monday night. Hottest days are expected to be Saturday and Sunday with temperatures up to 117. The greatest impacts are on children, the elderly, pets, the homeless .and people with chronic ailments. Heat exhaustion, cramps or in extreme cases heat stroke can result from prolonged exposure. An excessive heat warning is issued when temperatures are forecast to reach dangerous levels that will stress the body if precautions are not taken.

And be careful with both your bare feet and those of your pets. Asphalt and concrete can heat up to temperatures that can cause second degree burns on bare skin on contact.  Exposure of 1 second to pavement at 158 ºF can burn human skin.  At 158 ºF you can cook an egg on pavement surface in five minutes.
