Three serious crashes in the Morongo Basin this weekend, including at least one fatality on deadly Highway 62. The confirmed fatality was a single vehicle rollover on Highway 62 in the Morongo Grade at 3:04 Sunday afternoon. Morongo Valley Fire Engineer Behrens said that the westbound Toyota Tacoma rolled over and blocked the number 2 lane. The driver and sole occupant, Nikolas Samahous, 40, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, was trapped inside and had to be cut out using the Jaws of Life. He was taken by ground ambulance to Desert Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:12 p.m.
