DOWNED POWER LINES CLOSE HIGHWAY LANES IN MORONGO VALLEY

Eastbound lanes of Highway 62 in Morongo Valley were closed for a couple hours early this morning due to downed power lines. Morongo Valley Fire Engineer George Partida said firefighters were called to the downed power lines near the intersection of Palo Verde and Highway 62 about 3:30 a.m. this morning. The lines went across both eastbound lanes of the highway, and into part of the number 2 westbound lane. Partida said repair crews from Southern California Edison arrived about one to 1 ½ hours later. The highway had one lane open in each direction while crews removed the power lines. It’s not known at this time why the power lines fell down.
