An argument over a cell phone led to an arrest of a Yucca Valley man, accused of punching his girlfriend. According to a Sheriff’s report, witnesses called the Sheriff’s Department to report that Ernest Finister, 52, was arguing with his girlfriend in the 6400 block of India Avenue in Yucca Valley about 7:30 p.m. Friday night over her phone. The report states that Finister grabbed the phone and threw it at the wall; after the woman threw the battery at him, he allegedly punched her in the head. Ernest Finister was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
A Morongo Valley man was arrested Friday evening, accused of assaulting his common-law wife. According to a Sheriff’s report, John Wittmann, 55, was arguing with his wife in the 49600 block of Paradise Avenue in Morongo Valley about 6:30 Friday. When the woman attempted to leave the room, Wittman allegedly grabbed her arm, causing several bruises. After an investigation, John Wittman was arrested on suspicion of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
