DEPUTIES INVESTIGATE SHOTS FIRED IN JOSHUA TREE THURSDAY NIGHT

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating shots fired in Joshua Tree late Thursday night. About 11:45, a deputy on patrol heard five shots and saw the muzzle flashes, in the area of the Joshua Mobile Estates in the 62400 block of 29 Palms Highway. Deputies were unable to determine if the shots were intended for them or not. An extensive search of the area but deputies did not locate any suspects, although they did find 10 .45-caliber spent shell casings and a tactical gun light at the west entrance to the mobile home park. A witness told deputies she saw a dark colored compact SUV leave the area at a high rate of speed after she heard the shots.
