DECORATED FIGHTER PILOT AT HI-DESERT NATURE MUSEUM TOMORROW

A Vietnam-era fighter pilot will be the guest speaker at the Morongo Basin Historical Society’s Second Wednesday Lecture Series. Retired Colonel Dr. Dean Hunter flew 166 combat missions in Vietnam over five years. He is listed as one of the highest decorated young officers in the Air Force for heroism and is currently a candidate for the Congressional Medal of Honor for a flight flown on June 25, 1964. He is a docent at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Hunter will speak about his experiences of serving his country on 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum in Yucca Valley. After the lecture, Hunter will sign his book, “For Love of Life and Country.” Admission is $5; come early, as seating is limited.
