COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE NAMES NEW SUPERINTENDANT/PRESIDENT

In a surprise announcement late yesterday, Jeff A. Cummings was named Copper Mountain College superintendent/president effective May 15, following the expected contract approval by the Board of Trustees the day prior. Cummings has served as interim leader of the College for nearly a year during which time he developed an integrated planning model, chaired the Morongo Basin Educational Summit, and took steps to see that Board members and employees to take active roles in the budget process and in working for student success. Cummings has a long history working in California’s two-year community college system and holds a Master’s degree from Endicott College in Massachusetts. Prior to yesterday, trustees had indicated their choice for Superintendent/President would be revealed at the regular May 14 meeting.
