CHP LOOKING FOR HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER WHO HIT BICYCLIST IN JOSHUA TREE

The California Highway Patrol is searching for a driver who hit a bicyclist in downtown Joshua Tree and then fled the scene. According to the CHP, Johnathan Cozart, 22, of Joshua Tree was riding his bicycle northbound on Park Boulevard at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday. As Cozart entered the intersection of Park and Highway 62, the driver of a newer model, white Dodge Charger entered the intersection and failed to yield the right-of-way to Cozart. The Charger hit Cozart and then fled the scene after the collision. Cozart refused to be taken to the hospital against medical advice. The suspect vehicle possibly has damage to the left front bumper, left front side, and left side mirror. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to call CHP Officer Michael Griffin at 760-366-3707.
