A book launch party/fundraiser is planned for Saturday, February 21, at 7 p.m. at The Palms restaurant. The book: “In Search of the Frightening and Beautiful” is the story of a motorcycle journey, roving residency and visual art project by Heather Johnson. It began with her artist in residency at BoxoHOUSE in 2013 and resulted in a book of her experiences on a 10,000 mile solo trip to New Jersey and back by motorcycle. She continued her travels to Mexico and plans a ride next month to South America. She is raising funds for the project with a $5-$10 donation suggested. Her book launch party will be held at The Palms Restaurant, 83131 Amboy Road, in Twentynine Palms. Five local bands will perform: The Sibleys, The Renderers, Son of the Velvet Rat, Reverend Screamin Fingers and BATT.
