AUDITIONS MONDAY FOR “THE SUNSHINE BOYS” AT THEATRE 29

Theatre 29 announces auditions for the first show of the 2016 season, Neil Simon’s Classic Comedy, “The Sunshine Boys.” A pair of vaudevillian greats haven’t spoken to one another for years. When CBS asks them to reunited for a comedy TV special, past grudges resurface in a hilarious manner. Reporter Rebecca Havely has the cast break down…
“The Sunshine Boys” auditions at Theatre 29 will be on Monday, November 30, at 6:30 p.m. The role of Willie Clark is pre-cast with award-winning actor Kurt Schauppner. Available roles include:
Al Lewis: The other half of the comedy duo. He’s a Jewish New Yorker in his 60s or 70s. All actors who can portray the age and accent are welcome to audition.
Ben Silverman: In his 30s or 40s, he’s Willie’s stressed-out nephew and his agent.
Willie’s Nurse: A strong, funny role of a no-nonsense black woman of any age.
A recreation of a vaudevillian sketch, “The Doctor Will See You Now” calls for some smaller roles including:
Eddie: 20s to 40s; he’s the assistant director at CBS.
The Patient: A male in his 40s to 60s.
Sketch Nurse: A young woman with an attractive figure and a breathy, sexy demeanor.
The CBS Director: An authoritative, voice-only role, done live.
“The Sunshine Boys” will run Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m. from January 15 to February 16. Matinee performances are set for Sunday, January 14 and February 7 at 2:30 pm.
