ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

Joshua Tree National Park has been the inspiration for so many artists.  Ranger Pam Tripp says that the Park encourages the process with a Artist-in-Residence program…

Joshua Tree National Park and the Joshua Tree National Park Association are pleased to announce the participants in the 2014-2015 Artist-in-Residence program.  Five artists were invited to participate in the program’s seventh year of providing a unique residential opportunity to artists from around the nation. Chuck Kimmerle; Emily Underwood; Doug Shoemaker; Deanne Belinoff; and Sonja Hinrichsen will spend time in the park this coming fall and next spring to work on projects chosen from a pool of 70 applications.

The park will provide accommodations for the artists-in-residence for two to four weeks. Through partnerships established with other agencies within the region, the artists will produce a program or exhibit to engage members of the surrounding communities.

Selections were based on criteria that included relevance of the applicant’s proposal to the mission of Joshua Tree National Park, caliber of the work, and feasibility of the project within the NPS guidelines. We congratulate all the selectees!
