ARMED ROBBERY IN YUCCA VALLEY

The same man who robbed several businesses at gunpoint in Twentynine Palms is suspected of robbing a check-cashing business in Yucca Valley Friday afternoon. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Mike Landavazo, the robber entered the Check-n-Go in the Vons Shopping Center shortly before 12:30 p.m., pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and demanded money. Landavazo said the robber then fled on foot. The robberies in Twentynine Palms included a check-cashing business near Adobe Road and the highway on March 10, a liquor store in the Historic Plaza on February 17, and a smoke shop on Adobe Road on February 22. Landavazo said detectives have identified the robber and, “It’s safe to say the physical description is close to the other robberies in Twentynine Palms.” Landavazo described the suspect as a black man, about 6 feet tall with a stocky build. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
