AFTER A MONTH, NO EVIDENCE OF A CRIME, NO TRACE OF ERIN CORWIN

It was one month ago that pregnant Marine wife Erin Corwin of Twentynine Palms was reported missing. She told her husband, Marine Cpl. Jonathan Corwin, she was headed to Joshua Tree National Park on June 28. When she did not return, he reported her missing the next day. Sheriff’s Captain Dale Mondary told Z107.7 News it is still officially a missing persons case and they are currently looking for any sign of her or proof that a crime occurred. Sheriff’s investigators said yesterday there are “no new developments.” While the sheriff’s department reported there are “suspicious circumstances” surrounding Corwin’s disappearance, investigators also haven’t ruled out the possibility that she left on her own accord. They searched Corwin’s on-base apartment and the apartment of neighbor Christopher Lee with whom she may have been having an affair. Deputies also searched White Rock Horse Rescue Ranch in Yucca Valley, where Corwin volunteered and Lee and his wife stayed for a few days right after the disappearance. Evidence revealed shows Lee and Corwin planned to go hunting together the day she disappeared. Deputies searched Lee’s home, and arrested him July 4 on suspicion of possessing a “destructive device,” later identified as a potato gun. He was subsequently released.
