A BUSY SATURDAY SET FOR MORONGO VALLEY

A busy day is planned in Morongo Valley this Saturday. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has a rundown on all the activities planned at the far west end of the Morongo Basin…

This will be a busy Saturday in Morongo Valley’s Covington Park. At 10 a.m. is the dedication of a monument at the site of the original Warren family homestead, residence of the first settler family in Morongo Valley. The Warren family rolled up their sleeves and unearthed the homestead site, clearing debris and restoring what they could with cooperation from the Community Services District, the County and the Morongo Basin Historical Society. The project was completely funded through the family as well. The site is located along a path just below the tennis courts. Also on Saturday, the Morongo Valley Youth Sports League will hold an overnight camp out at the ball fields adjacent to the park. Camp out kitchen duty falls on the Morongo Valley Fire Department Saturday night; Sunday breakfast will come from CSD General Manager Donna Munoz and husband, Art. Questions may be directed to Munoz 760-363-6454.
