17-YEAR-OLD HELD AFTER BURGLARY TO OCCUPIED HOME

A 17-year-old Yucca Valley boy was arrested Friday, accused of breaking into a child’s bedroom while the family was sleeping. According to a Sheriff’s press release, a woman in the 8400 block of El Dorado Court in Yucca Valley was awakened by a noise coming from her child’s bedroom about 11:15 p.m. Friday. When she went to investigate, she saw a boy, identified by the Sheriff’s department as a 17-year-old Hispanic male, standing in her child’s bedroom. The woman screamed, and the boy fled. Responding deputies were unable to locate the intruder. The next day, during a follow-up investigation of the attempted burglary, deputies contacted the boy, and he was positively identified as the suspect. The boy, whose name is being withheld by the Sheriff’s Department due to his age, was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, and booked at juvenile hall.
